Loading... Please wait...Good day, today's small business blog will focus on pricing. How do We figure out what to charge for a product or service? The first place to start is to measure the competition. What are they charging? Why? What is thier specialty? Is it the lowest price? Quality? Speed of shipment or completion of services? These are all factors to consider, I used to be involved in a family business, My Father, always said promise 2 out of 3, ie: Price, quality but slower delivery, or; quality, delivery but higher prices, etc. The key was this: You cant promise quality, price, delivery, etc all the time. I had a customer who wanted to buy 1000 roses with earrings in the bud, a jewelry item. This customer demanded 1) the lowest price match 2) 3 day delivery and 3) they should be better quality than what He bought from the other supplier. I declined to even consider his proposal, not because I didnt need the business, quite the opposite, but because His demands set up a possible bad deal before it even began. He ended up going elsewhere and just recently called me and said I should have gone with You. I got my product in 3 days, but the vendor charged me an arm and a leg in extra shipping and handling charges, and the product was inferior to what you have. Case in point, the other vendor was willing to work for nothing, upset the customer, and in the end make one sale and that was it. So, remember, set a fair price, set a realistic time frame and offer realistic quality expectations. We sell a lot of low, low priced items and state as such; If you pay .30 for a necklace, don't expect gold and diamonds....Good Day..
